Laser versus IPL
WHY Light Sheer Laser?
There are at least several hair removal systems available on the market and their effectiveness varies significantly. There are various laser systems on the Polish market, but only the Light Sheer diode laser from Lumenis is distinguished by a 98% reduction in hair regrowth three months after being irradiated with it.
Laser hair removal - the effects
Not all hair grows at the same time. Some are in the growth phase (anagen) - these are the hairs visible on the skin. Only hair in the growth phase is destroyed by laser light. The remaining hair is in the „dormant” phase (telogen), which varies in duration (3-8 weeks). This is followed by a growth phase (anagen), in which the hair can again be actively destroyed using the laser. Therefore, laser hair removal treatments must be repeated (approx. 4 times) to remove almost all hair. With the first treatment with the Light Sheer laser, approximately 30% - 50% of hair is removed, and after the entire series of treatments up to 98%. The remaining hair is definitely lighter, finer and does not interfere as it is almost invisible.
Laser better than IPL?
IPL (Intensepulsedlight) is not a laser, it is characterised by quite high radiation power and the possibility of setting up a sequence of multiple flashes (variable exposures). This offers the possibility of treating acne and photorejuvenation, while it has no measurable effect on hair removal. This is due to the fact that IPL does not remove the hair from the follicle, but only inhibits its growth for a few months. After this time, the hair starts to grow back again.
Many years of clinical studies confirm that other epilation methods, e.g. with an IPL device, do not destroy but only damage the structure of the hair follicle. Consequently, epilation with such equipment is not only ineffective, but what is more, it makes professional epilation much more difficult.
Mechanism of action on the hair follicle and hair
The laser used for hair removal treatments has a superficial effect and does not affect the functions of the entire body. The laser beam, which is directed towards the skin, penetrates approx. 2 mm into the skin, causing damage to the follicle and its gradual disappearance, which ultimately leads to hair loss.
The radiation emitted by the laser is absorbed by the melanin of the hair follicles and skin.
The appropriate beam length destroys this pigment and thus causes the hair follicle stem cells to disappear and not even a trace of the hair remains.
One „shot” of the beam eliminates a dozen or more hairs that are on the surface of the skin forming a spot 9×9 mm in diameter. The hair is destroyed in batches spot by spot.
Light Sheer ET Head - to ensure the highest degree of safety, the handle of this head has been fitted with a unique, different ChillTip™ cooling system, which cools and protects the skin during the treatment and makes the treatment less painful. The temperature of the sapphire tip is constantly maintained at around 4°C . This is much more efficient cooling than the solutions used in other epilation devices (air cooling, gels, etc.).
